A family returns to Russia
when the Motherland invites emigres to return home after the Second
World War. The high spirits in the beginning faded the moment they
landed on Russian soil and we see how they struggle to cope with
their new life. The drama is well paced and I'll give the film a
7.0/10. The added bonus is Catherine Deneuve in the film.
My impressions:
The first shock
Was totally unexpected
They were all innocents
Naïve even
Thinking that they will be
welcomed
To the land of glory
Reality was totally
different
Each day brings different
challenges
They try to live as best
as they can
Entangled in the web of
deceit
They succumb to love and
hate
But persevere they must
As time is immaterial
However long it takes
They must still try
